Vivi is quiet
YawLing is bubly
Vivi is a little shy
YawLing is a man with no fear
Despite all the differences, they have one thing in common, they love one another
Love emerges in the most unique places. That’s how YawLing laid his eyes on Vivi for the first time. It was along the staircase at a Buddhist Temple and surely, it was love at first sight.
Then the story went on.. YawLing early attempt was his effort trying to see Vivi everyday. He used to buy hot chocolate every morning for Vivi before she went to work. He waited patiently at a bus stop with 2 cups of hot chocolate in his hands. It was really early morning, it was cold, sometimes it caused him late to work, but it’s all worth while in the end.
We adore the cooking scene so much. It was not just an ordinary cooking scene because we found out YawLing’s absolute hatred towards celery. When Vivi was teasing Yawling with a bunch of celery to his mouth. That was the funniest thing. YawLing’s expression was absolutely priceless.
The photo booth scene has got to be one of our favourites in the series as well. Their sweetness to each other made the whole shooting process fun and easy. You guys brought more colours to an already colourful space.
Though it was windy, cloudy, and rather simple, the proposal scene was a definitely a memorable one. It felt so real as if we went back in time to actually witness how YawLing bended on one knee and declared his love to Vivi. They were in the zone of love… I think, at some points, they kinda had forgotten the cameras and the fact that we were there with them. It’s ok, that’s exactly what we were after. It is what Cinematic Portraiture is all about, capturing real moments.
Once again, thank you to YawLing+Vivi for believing in us to capture your sweet love story through Cinematic Portraiture. We hope this will be as a precious memory as it is to us.

They are surrounded with really beautiful people, you can see how fun the day was from listening to the pastor’s sermon, the amount of fun in the location shoot as well as the nice wise word of God that Adrian’s brother shared during speeches. Thanks so much guys for sharing a part of your life with us… a big one too!

David + Luanh Cinematic Wedding Trailer | “Thanks, gorgeous”
Another Bowral wedding! love that place. Dave and Luanh were working in Shanghai when they actually booked us after our short skype meeting. They are very lovely couple. Luanh almost by herself has prepared a very sweet wedding (as david mentioned in his speech that he only prepared about 5 percent of the whole wedding). We love the little details that just add so much to the whole experience. It was also great to see a combination of jewish and greek culture merged into one epic event like this. Thanks so much guys for your trust and just being so nice to us. We wish you all the best and much love from the whole paper cranes team.

Eric + Oanh Cinematic Portraiture “JUST US”
Our first post in 2012!!
We absolutely love Eric+Oanh’s cinematic portraiture series
Though the concepts are rather simple, but each of them is different in its own unique way and of course… in its own meaningful way..
If we had to describe in one word, the whole look and feel of the story would be elegance.
We feel so blessed to get to know Eric and his calmness + Oanh and her both inner and outer beauty. When they are together, we can just feel the romance between them, which surely had made every shot looks amazing. A great example of this would definitely be the concept where we shot them at oanh’s bridal gown shop where they spend a lot of time together.
We also had the privilege to get to know Eric’s daughter, Ashley and her innocence. Her presence really gives warmth to the whole shooting atmosphere. It gives us a glimpse of what a happy family is all about.
Finally, the day was a perfect day with amazing weather to capture the story of this beautiful family, please enjoy!

Luc + Ivy Same Day Edit Experience | A Thousand Year
Our last same day edit for 2011 and it couldn’t be better.
We love how this same day edit has pretty much everything from romance, fun, elegance and beauty.
It all started from Ivy’s mum cleaning the house with her broom here and there. Its a great start as it instantly gives the tone of down to earth to the whole film.
Then the location shoot comes in with the line “one step closer…” as luc steps in.
The gate crash was also great with the strawberries and the push ups but the highlight for us is definitely the location shoot where we use a lot of slow motion to enhance the song and the mood the film. Really love it when slow mo is used in the right moment.
Please enjoy and merry christmas and happy new year!

Joshua + Eileen Same Day Edit Experience | “Together, we can change the world..”
Seriously and honestly joshua’s letter to eileen really moved my heart. I can feel my eyes start to get watery every time I edit the part where Eileen read out “Together we can do anything, we can change the world…. Eileen come join with me today and everyday my love..”
I didn’t put it in the edit but it actually said that they already started their journey changing the world one step at a time from sponsoring a child together. We never really met this couple before. They are from Melbourne and they booked us quiet a while ago but we knew that it was going to be an awesome wedding and a meaningful one. Even more so when we have the talented people from One wedding wish wedding planning to plan and style the whole wedding. I have never seen so much details happening in one wedding. We got to bring home the bomboniere which was a succulent plant. Its now sitting in our meeting room. love it!
More about the wedding, one of the highlight for us would definitely be the screening of the same day edit. They prepared a special treat for everyone to enjoy which is called the cinema under the stars. So they hired an inflatable projector screen for everyone to see outdoor with all the pretty decorated lights and pop corns, bean bags, cake pops and vintage lemonade bottles. Seriously! This was a bomb! We feel so honoured and humbled to present our work in such event.
So I think its quiet obvious that after hearing about all of these bells and whistles about the wedding, we got so excited and hence we flew another cinematographer from our team, Dave to come with me and Ferry to melbourne. So at first we were going to do a one song SDE but given the effort that everybody has put in to the presentation, we decided to use 2 songs and make the SDE a bit longer. We were really pressed for time but we finally made it through in the end. The SDE was successful but to be honest, I couldn’t resist to alter it a little bit to make this final result. So this would not be the actual SDE played on the night but an upgraded version of it
Finally, thanks so much to Joshua and eileen for not only having us and trusting us but also inspiring us with your love and commitment. I mean it when I say that you guys are lovely and Godly people and I wish you all the blessings you can have in your life. Thanks also to joanie, gavin and team for their amazing effort and perfection to styling the wedding and communicating with us back and forth in regards to the details of the wedding. Love you guys and look forward to work with you again soon.
PS: special thanks to ejon for assisting us on the day, phodi and kiet for their support and also to the melbourne photography team daniel sheehan.

Michael + Lee Lee Same Day Edit Experience | “1,2,3…a,b,c…. Hey!!!”
It was a beautiful day for Michael and Lee lee and it couldn’t get any better. We had so much fun that day just capturing the moments as they happen as well as playing around during the location shoot. We already figured out what song we wanted to use after shooting the prep and the tea ceremony. Somehow this song by “Count on me” by Mat Kearney just stood out for us and we decided that we gonna make full use of it. Hence the singing and the “hey!” jumping during location shoot and ceremony group photos. The same day editing went very smooth and the presentation couldn’t be any better. Michael and Lee lee was crying and laughing at the same time. We surely gonna post the reaction shots of them soon. So please stay in touch.
Finally thanks so much lee lee and michael for your complete trust in our work. We love you guys and we wish you all the best for your journey together. For now, merry christmas and happy new year!!!

Anthony + Kanling Cinematic Wedding Trailer | “Boy I’m a lucky guy..”
We totally and utterly love this couple. We met them for the first time on our dinner meeting where they actually already booked us a while before hand. We clicked straight away and started chatting about this that those and these things about each other. They are really fun to be around with and super nice to other people. The dinner meeting became a great night out with “new friends”
We got to shoot a prewedding film for them which turned out to be really emotional and funny at the same time. You guys can watch the full film and the reaction as well here:

Then finally came the day of the wedding. We flew to Melbourne and shot the wedding in two amazing venues, The eureka tower for the ceremony and the park hyatt for the reception. We had so much fun that day working with super famous and down to earth photographer yervant. He’s such a nice guy and very friendly as well.
Thanks so much to anthony and kanling for their support and friendship. We miss you guys and hope to see you guys again soon!

This gotta be one of the most personalised wedding we’ve ever been to. All credits goes to Sandra the bride of course as Andy admitted himself during his speech LOL
To make things simple, let us try to list all the unique things that we found on the wedding
1. the bride and groom of course!!!
2. the concept is “andy and san’s favourite things”
3. the table place cards were objects of their favourite things
4. andy and san loves scrabbles, hence the cufflinks
5. the timetable crossing!!!
6. BEST MATRON!!!!!!!! she was on the groom side when they were doing the gate crash!! lolll…. very very unique
7. MAN OF HONOR!!!!! it was definitely a bit weird having a guy helping the bride getting ready. especially during the close-up shot of the hand buttoning up the dress LOL but its sooo coolllll indeed….
8. the bridal waltz!!! we were so looking forward for andy’s RnB performance and he didn’t dissapoint…
9. the fireworks on the farewell!!!
10. and again… the bride and groom!! well done!!!

Tyler + Nina Cinematic Wedding Trailer | “When I’m with you..”
Two Doctors in love!!!
Tyler is an american who came to Australia to study medicine at Sydney uni. Little did he know that his trip was going to change his life forever. Yes, he got hooked by Nina who’s a sydney sider studying the same medicine course with him. Tyler fell for Nina at first sight and the rest was history.. They now resides in the US pursuing their journey as doctors… married doctors..
There were so many tears in the reception and the speeches were all awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by Nina’s dad’s speech. He was speaking in a full asian accent and it was so heartfelt I have never heard such a thing before in my career of shooting wedding films. Such lovely moment… Tyler’s speech was also great.. and its even better with his american accent.. hahaha… it felt hollywood straight away.
It was also funny to see how tyler trying to explain the rules of footie game to his american groomsmen hahaha
Thanks so much tyler and nina. We had so much fun shooting your wedding and we hope you would enjoy this trailer as much as we do…. especially me.. I really enjoyed this hahaha…
oh, by the way, Tyler used the best pick-up line ever to Nina… hands down… if you want to know what it is, please watch the film and check it out yourselves

Kevin + Erika Cinematic Portraiture Same day Edit Slideshow | “Property of Erika”
Wow.. what an awesome awesome experience it was!
We had an absolute blast!
There has to be a first time for everyone, right? Well this was our first wedding photography assignment where we did same day edit slideshow. You guys would have no idea how excited we were leading up to the big day.
We had so many discussions among the team on how to pull this thing together the best way possible all the way down to the songs that we should use for the SDE. In the end, it was all definitely worth it!
Thanks to Kevin+Erika and their families and friends for being so cooperative through out the day.
I think its worth mentioning It was definitely one of the funniest and longest gate crash we’ve ever come across to date!
Fortunately, we did the engagement shoot with them a few months earlier, so we already got to know them very well prior to the wedding. Trust me, it helps a lot..
They were so comfortable in front of our cameras and that certainly made it easier for us to take great candid shots.
Thanks to Kevin and Erika for giving us this first opportunity and we can’t wait to finish the album design and let you experience the wedding once again.
Also, thanks to John Poulakis and the team for their moral support throughout the day.
Coming from cinematography background, Its a bit of a strange feeling to be working with fellow cinematographers but in the end we always had so much fun and support each other.
We were so glad that the SDE Slideshow got to be shown properly at the reception. The lights were turned off, the guests were enjoying it and most importantly Kevin+Erika were extremely happy with it. For our very first SDE slideshow, we are surely very proud of it!
I actually did some more tweaking on the SDE just because I couldn’t resist myself. But more or less not much has changed from the actual presentation. Hope you guys love it as much as we do!
Through this experience, We’ve realised that there are many things to be improved and we will definitely keep those in mind and take every challenges as part of our journey in cinematic portraiture.
So looking forward to the next one!!!!
